The quickest and easiest way to update your wardrobe without overhauling your entire closet is to update your jewelry. No one wants to wait for their special someone to gift them a piece of jewelry for Christmas or their birthday, and honestly, who has the time to waste? These are the 5 jewelry trends you need to jump into this summer for an easy, no fitting room necessary update!

1. Layered Earrings

Time to head to the tattoo/piercing shop! High end retailers are starting to sell packages of earrings that are meant to be mixed and matched together. Layer huggies with larger hoops, and arrange your studs largest to smallest. Not ready to commit? Try the trend with a non invasive ear cuff, or rock a mismatched, but complimentary earring like this one from Alexis Bittar. And for the love of God, please don’t get your ears pierced at Claire’s! Here’s why. These are some of the styles I’m coveting right now:

·      This set from Treasure and Bond

·      These huggies from Gorjana (they’re on sale!)

·      This Madewell set made for mixing and matching

Feel free to check out my layered earring pinterest board for some inspo on how to style the look!

2. Coin necklaces

Carrie Bradshaw once said “I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet.” I’m not proposing we literally wear money, but these layered coin pieces are giving me major roman-greco vibes. Perfect for a holiday to the Cyclades (or just scrolling through #santorini on IG).

Try these pieces:

·      This necklace from Kristin Cavallari’s brand, Uncommon James

·      This necklace from Gorjana that combines two of this season’s jewelry trends

·      This Versace inspired necklace from Argento Vivo

3. 70’s Acetate

These funky Madewell earrings are gonna be on trend right through summertime!

Gone are the delicate, simple layering pieces of last summer. This year we are going full studio 54 with chunky, vibrant acetate. Don’t be afraid to overdo it- more is more. This is probably the easiest of the trends to completely change the vibe of your outfit. Go for a bold cuff or rock the new neutral, tortiseshell.

·      Try this funky Halogen bracelet to elevate a simple look.

·      These Baublebar earrings seem to be springing up all over Instagram.

·      Pretty much anything lucite from Alexis Bittar will play into this trend, like this jeweled cuff

4. Stars Everywhere

The 90’s nostalgia continues with star and moon motifs on just about everything. Rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings all get embellished with celestial beings that you can layer, and mix and match. This trend can easily be mixed with the stacked earring trend, or layer up a coin necklace with your look!

·     These Madewell star earrings combine this trend with the 70’s acetate vibes perfectly.

·      This Argento Vivo choker plays into those 90’s vibes, and layers easily with more pieces (remember, more is more!)

·      Commit to the silhouette and trend of the times and rock a star encrusted anklet to the beach this summer!

5. Pearls and Shells

Puka, cowrie, and abalone shell necklaces are back! The key here is to layer delicate, organic pieces so you don’t look like you just stepped out of a tourist shop on the big island. Keep it clean with an abalone shell earring, or layer freshwater pearl earrings, cowrie shell bracelets, and puka shell necklaces. Try a mismatched pearl earring to stay contemporary- the trend here would feel way too stuffy with a classic pearl anything.

·      Try this Treasure and Bond style that already comes layered up and ready for your next vacation.

·      This Argento Vivo cowrie shell pendant is an easy way to try the trend in a more subtle way.

·      Kendra Scott has a ton of abalone shell pieces in a variety of silhouettes to try. I love this modern earring set in rose gold.
